"I’m home." These were the words Maxine announced upon moving into North Shore Elder Services’ first H.E.A.R.T. home in Peabody. No two words could have made those who worked on this endeavor more proud.
The Housing Elders at Residences Together (H.E.A.R.T.) home concept started with a asking a simple question, how do you want to be cared for in the future? Your answers gave us a goal: make it like home. We invite you to learn more about how we did just that in this Salem News article.
The H.E.A.R.T. home is just one of many innovative programs at North Shore Elder Services. From meal choices at community dining sites to flexible respite for caregivers, we are responding to the changing needs of elders and their caregivers by developing the programs for tomorrow’s Baby Boomers, today.
Our staff work hard to make every dollar count, but many of our programs are not fully funded or flexible enough to cover all the needs of frail elders and their families. Innovative programs, such as the H.E.A.R.T. home, couldn’t exist without community support. Please consider making a donation to North Shore Elder Services
$35 can provide a personal emergency response system to an elder for one month.
$60 can provide 12 meals to elders in case of emergency or snowstorm.
$125 can provide fuel to help heat an elder’s home this winter.
