Money Management Volunteers
Recognized

Services Manager
Economic security is essential for each of us, said
Charles Desmond, President of AARP Massachusetts at a
statewide Money Management volunteer appreciation event
held at the State House on June 28, 2006. Several Money
Management staff and volunteers from NSES attended
including program manager Sally Zavarella who spoke
proudly of the volunteers, "Our money management
volunteers recognize that economic security leads to
financial independence and the ability to make choices
in how and where an elder wishes to live. These
volunteers do such a great job helping these folks who
need it most."
State Representative Joyce Spiliotis, a long time
champion of the Money Management Program, spoke of her
district, Thirty two percent of my district is over the
age of sixty. Spiliotis went on to say she works
closely with North Shore Elder Services, speaking warmly
of the work money management volunteers have done to
help her constituents.
Since the inception of the program in 1991, over
6200 elders have been assisted in Massachusetts,
said Gregory Giuliano, Director of Protective
Services for the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. We
are the largest program in the nation and one of only
two that serve elders statewide. Currently, 1200 elders
in the Commonwealth are being served. One of 25 sites
across the Commonwealth, NSES assists over 50 elders
with more than 60 volunteers.
If you know someone over the age of 60 who needs
short or long-term assistance with managing their
finances our trusted volunteers can help, just give us a
