Helado. Creme de gelo. Мороженое. Ice cream.
Our clients all have a different name for it. But, no matter the language, they all call it "a summer treat."
We, at North Shore Elder Services, appreciate that oftentimes it's the small things - like an ice cream sundae on a hot August day - that make a difference for many elders.
For the second year in a row we are celebrating Hazy Crazy Summer Days, bringing something special into the routine days of hundreds of homebound older adults. Earlier in July, our meals-on-wheels recipients and participants at our community dining sites enjoyed a special lobster roll lunch. A thousand rolls were served!
August 13-17th a small army of volunteers will fan out to the homes of meals on wheels clients in Danvers, Marblehead, Middleton, Peabody, and Salem. Each pair of volunteers will be delivering five or six sundaes complete with home-made vanilla ice cream, hot fudge or strawberry sauce, whipped cream and cherries!
Mullen Advertising in Wenham is encouraging their employees to volunteer a lunch hour or two that week helping out. So far 50 employees have signed up!
