No Margin, No Mission
-Paul J. Lanzikos
"No margin. No mission." Many years ago a Catholic nun I knew who ran a not-for-profit nursing facility used to say this. She knew that to do good for her patients she had to do well in making sure she had enough funding to pay for the care.
It's no different today at North Shore Elder Services. Everyday we help provide the services and support to several thousand older adults that allow them to live in their own homes comfortably and safely in spite of frailties and functional limitations due to disability or disease.
We are diligent in our effort to provide services as efficiently as possible - our case managers and nurses know how to "make nickels squeak" when developing care plans. Nonetheless, to accomplish our mission fully and effectively does take considerable financial resources. Our funding comes from four principal sources: state contracts, federal grants, client fees, and donations.
This is where we turn to you - the friends and supporters of North Shore Elder Services - to help in two important ways.
-
Your contribution to our Annual Appeal which provides the funding to develop innovative programs and fill critical gaps in service delivery.
However you can help "increase our margin to advance our mission", I can assure you that North Shore elders and their families and caregivers will be immensely grateful as will I.

Spring Fundraiser Save The Date
We can hardly believe another year has gone by since we were tracking down lava lamps and lovebeads for our Back to the 70's Birthday Bash! Your support helped us to sell out 300+ tickets and net $20,000 to supplement services and programs that are vital to our elders in need on the North Shore. This year we need your help to double those numbers!
So get out your palm pilot, flip ahead to spring on you calendar and get to saving the date of May 3rd for our spring fundraiser. Sponsorship and ticket package information will be released in the March Shoreline. |
