-Paul J. Lanzikos, Executive Director

I have been asked by many people, "What is the impact of Question 1 on older people?"

Here is my analysis of what Question 1 could mean:

Question 1 on the November 4th ballot will have a dramatic negative impact on services and programs for older people-and for just about everyone else in Massachusetts who relies on state or local services-which is virtually all of us!  Our schools, police, fire, road maintenance, local aid, and human services will all see a major loss of financial support if the state income tax is repealed. Equally important, Question 1 provides no alternative source of revenue to help soften the blow that would be felt by thousands of our friends and neighbors.

Meals-on-Wheels Fundraiser a Swimming Success

Thank you to everyone who participated in our annual Hazy Crazy Summer Days Lobster Roll Sale to benefit Meals-on-Wheels.  We sold 850 lobster rolls, raising about $4500.  This will help to subsidize donations from meal recipients (donations are not mandatory) to stretch our budget and serve more meals.

Our very own receptionist, Elaine McCormack was the winner of the Red Sox raffle. She was unable to go so she raffled off the seats to staff and Gwen Kopka, Director of Client Services got to sit in the great seats donated by Senator Fred Berry and his wife Gayle.

Runner up raffle winners included Judy Bradley, Judith Cranney, Butch Deschamps, Judy Harrison, Jeannette McGinn, Phyllis Robinson, Lisa Sculley, and Bob Wilson.
